Cape Town car hire: ideal for wandering the wine routesCape Town car hire is a great choice of transport for travelling Cape Town and surrounds. The Cape is renowned for its vineyards, and meandering along a wine route is a really enjoyable experience, both for wine connoisseurs and teetotallers. Many wine estates now have hotels, spas, restaurants, live music and other activities for guests to enjoy. Renting a car is by far the easiest and most reasonable way to tour the wine routes. Cape Town car hire: perfect for the Constantia Wine Route The Constantia wine estates could collectively be termed the “Mother” of the wine industry in the Cape. Vineyards were planted and cultivated in Constantia in the late 1600s and the area has been producing wine ever since. The valley oozes history and heritage and is an upmarket, beautiful place to visit. Cape Town car hire is the best idea for a relaxed tour of the Constantia Wine Route. Buitenverwachting Buitenverwachting means “beyond expectations”, and this is exactly the type of wine the estate produces. Buitenverwachting is one of the original Constantia wine farms and today creates a range of wonderful wines. The estate restaurant is also superb. On-site attractions:

Steenberg Wines The Steenberg estate has a top-of-the-range cellar which hosts two tours daily. Both red and white wines are produced, and Steenberg is one of the only Cape vineyards currently cultivating “Nebbiolo”. The estate is home to a national monument in the form of the original farmhouse as well as some outbuildings, which have now become part of the 24-suite hotel. The farmhouse gable is the last remaining example of its kind in the Cape Peninsula. On-site attractions:
Eagles Nest Eagles Nest specialises in production of two red wines; a shiraz and a merlot, and is the steepest commercially farmed land in the Cape.
